As Gordon Brown took his team off site and into the "field" in Liverpool today, how many of us are actually listening to our staffs concerns in the present economic climate and communicating with our workforce ?

Although redundancy, lay off and restructure maybe at large are we and our managers operating in a transparent, and open way or storing more problems and possible disputes and costly conflict? Do they have the skills necessary to navigate and negotiate with the staff and understand the wider legal implications?
